I Learned Something New
The man named Job from the Bible is pretty well known. If you asked anybody who knew anything about the Bible, the first thing that would come to their mind upon mentioning his name would be that he endured suffering and was able to praise God in that suffering. “The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” Matt Redman even wrote a freaking song about it!
All this time I just went with the flow. Meaning, I thought it was harder to praise God in the storm or in the desert. I learned something new this weekend.
I learned that turning to God and praising God is hard in the desert. But it’s even harder to praise God when all things are going your way. Do you know how many times I’ve yearned for God when I wasn’t struggling or in a desert? I could probably count the times on one hand - maybe on one finger.
As I enter my new desert season, I have a new prayer request. Not that God would get me out of the desert, but that I would love and cling to God even more on my way out of the desert than in the desert. Jesus Christ is my savior in times of blessing and trial. I never want to forget that.
